The Most Overlooked Conveniences in Chandler, Arizona That I Love Most

After 30 years of living in Chandler and helping people buy and sell homes throughout Chandler, I've learned something interesting.

When people first move here, they focus on the obvious things: great schools, beautiful neighborhoods, golf courses, sunshine, and newer homes.

But after they've lived here for a few years, the things they appreciate most are often the conveniences they never expected.

These are the little quality-of-life advantages that quietly make Chandler one of the best places in Arizona to live.

Here are some of the overlooked conveniences I personally appreciate most.

Living Near One of Arizona's Largest Employment Corridors

northup grummanMost residents don't realize how unique Chandler's Price Road Corridor really is.

Drive down Price Road between Loop 202 and Loop 101 and you'll pass some of the most important employers in Arizona.

We're talking about Intel's massive Ocotillo campus, Northrop Grumman, Microchip Technology, Wells Fargo, Bank of America, PayPal, and numerous technology and financial firms.

For many Chandler residents, a "commute" means 10 to 15 minutes instead of an hour.

I've worked with countless buyers relocating from California who are shocked they can leave work and be home in time for dinner, a Little League game, or an evening walk around Ocotillo.

That's a convenience that doesn't show up on property brochures.

The Restaurant Scene Has Become Surprisingly Good

Not anymore! Today, Chandler residents have excellent dining options close to home.

For a fine dining date night, many locals enjoy The Hidden House, Elliot's, or Aqua Di'Mare in Downtown Chandler.

Near Chandler Fashion Center, favorites include Firebirds Wood Fired Grill and The Sicilian Butcher don't forget south Chandler's Cuisine and Wine Bistro.

Residents in Ocotillo often forget how fortunate they are to have excellent dining, coffee shops, and happy-hour spots within minutes of home.

One of the biggest changes I've seen over three decades is that Chandler has evolved from a bedroom community into a dining destination.

Another big hit for specialty food and dining is the large Farmer's Market on Saturday's at Chandler Gilbert Community College on Pecos Road in Chandler.

Parks Are Everywhere—And They're Actually Used

Families in South Chandler regularly spend weekends at Tumbleweed Park, home to Playtopia and the annual Ostrich Festival.

Outdoor enthusiasts love Veterans Oasis Park for walking trails, bird watching, fishing, and sunset views, and the free  City of Chandler concert series.

Families near West Chandler enjoy Desert Breeze Park with its train rides, splash areas, and large lake.

Many cities have parks. Chandler has parks that residents actually use year-round, including the Paseo Trail for biking or jogging the length of the city.

You Can Run Almost Every Errand Without Getting on a Freeway

This is one of the biggest reasons people stay here.

Think about a typical Saturday.

You can grab coffee in Ocotillo, stop at Sprouts or AJ's Fine Foods, hit the gym, visit Chandler Fashion Center, have lunch, stop by Home Depot, and be back home without ever feeling like you've spent the day driving.

For residents in 85248, especially around Ocotillo and Fulton Ranch, convenience is built into daily life.

Everything simply feels close.

Chandler's Road System Is Underrated

Ask anyone who's lived here long enough.

The combination of Chandler Boulevard, Queen Creek Road, Alma School, Dobson, Cooper, McQueen, Arizona Avenue, and Price Road makes getting around surprisingly easy.  Spending a lot of time on the road, I LOVE that Chandler requires it's road contractors to open up the roads during non-work hours to help traffic flow much more easily.  You will not see that in Gilbert, Mesa, or other surrounding cities.

Plus unlike many major metro areas, there are usually multiple ways to reach your destination. If you do have to get on a freeway, Chandler is so convenient with having three of them; the 101, 202, and I10.

When I work with buyers relocating from Los Angeles, Chicago, or Seattle, this is one of the first things they notice. The city just works.

Downtown Chandler Keeps Getting Better

holiday-tumbleweed-tree-downtown-chandlerLong-time residents remember when Downtown Chandler wasn't much of a destination.

Today it's one of the city's hidden gems.

You have local restaurants, breweries, coffee shops, community events, and festivals that give Chandler character it' special character.

It's become a place where residents actually spend time—not just drive through.

The Airport Is Close, But Not Too Close

One convenience people often overlook is how easy it is to get to Sky Harbor.

Depending on where you live in Chandler, you're often only 20 to 30 minutes from the airport.

That's a huge advantage for business travelers, snowbirds, and anyone with family out of state.

You get easy airport access without living under a flight path.

My Favorite Convenience of All

After 30 years in Chandler, the thing I appreciate most isn't any specific restaurant, employer, shopping center, or park.

It's that life feels efficient.

You can live in Ocotillo, work near Price Road, have dinner with friends, take a walk around the lakes, get your errands done, and still have time left in your day.

That may not sound exciting.

But when you've lived in cities where everything takes 45 minutes, you realize how valuable that really is.

That's one of the biggest reasons people move to Chandler.

And one of the biggest reasons they rarely leave.  If want more information about homes in Chandler, please reach via text or call to me at 480-355-8645.
